Tom Leaper is a Cornish sculptor working in a range of materials and is especially skilled in metal work, particularly bronze. Born into a family of studio potter's, Cornwalls culture and landscape imbues all that he creates.
In 2016 a new visitor centre opened in the old Barge House on the islands harbour front, it's centre piece being a large and highly tactile which was designed to enable our visitors, particularly those unable to make the climb to castle, to appreciate the scale and layout of the island as a whole. Using data provided by a 3D survey of the island Tom created a detailed sculpture of St Michael's Mount even down to the boats in the harbour, bronze was a natural choice as a material that would be able to withstand the hundreds of thousands of hands that will touch it!
We also wanted a model of equal detail and quality that our visitors could take home with them and so Tom made us scaled down versions in 3 sizes also cast in resin with a bronze finish. These mini sculptures are heirloom pieces that will withstand the test of time, and make a stylish addition to any home or desk. They have a soft touch base to ensure they do not scratch your surfaces.
Please note as these are hand cast there will be slight variations in colour and finish.
